Prister Boris Samuilovich

Biography

Prister Boris Samuilovich was born in Кremenchouk town (Poltava region, Ukraine) on March 3, 1938. He graduated from the Moscow Agricultural Academy by specialty ”agrochemist-pedologist” in 1962.

In 1962–1979:  junior research fellow, senior research fellow and the head of a laboratory at the Chemical Plant “Mayak”, Russia, Chelyabinsk-40.  He obtained his Ph.D. in 1968 and D.Sci. in 1978 (by specialty “radiobiology”). In 1979–1982: a professor at the Odessa State University. In 1982–1986:  a professor at the chair of Nuclear Power Stations, the Odessa Polytechnic Institute. The title of professor – since 1985. In 1986–1988: head of the radiobiology division in the Southern Branch of the All-Union  Academy of Agricultural Sciences  named after Lenin, Kijiv city.  In 1988–2004: Deputy Director, Director, Chief Research Fellow of  the Ukrainian Research Institute of Agricultural  Radiology,  Kijiv city. In 1990–1994: First Deputy Minister on Chornobyl Issues of Ukraine. Since 2004: Chief Research Fellow at the Institute of Nuclear Power Stations Safety Problems, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

B. S. Prister has been an academician of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine since 1990.   He obtained the State Prize of the USSR in 1974, and  the State Prize of Ukraine in 2004.  He was decorated with the Order “For Deserts” (second and third degrees). The title of “Honoured Science and Engineering Worker of Ukraine” – since 1998.
