Vereshchaka А. S.


А.S. Vereshchaka was born on December 8, 1937. In 1959 he graduated from the Moscow State Technical University (MSTU), the Machine-Tool Institute (MTI) and obtained his diploma in civil mechanical engineering. In 1959-1962 he worked as a manufacturing engineer. In 1962-1965 he was a post-graduate student at the MSTU, MTI.  

А.S. Vereshchaka obtained his Ph.D. (engineering) in  1966. In 1965-1968 he was an assistant lecturer at the chair of materialcutting, MSTU.  In 1969-1987:  an associate professor at the chair of materialcutting, MSTU. In 1987-1989:  a professor at the chair of materialcutting, MSTU. In 1986 he obtained his D. Sc.(engineering) and the State Prize of the Soviet Union  “For developing a technology and organization of production of  cutting tools with abrasion resistant coating     for machine building”. In 1989-1990 А.S. Vereshchaka was the head of the chair of materialcutting, MSTU. Also he has been a professor at the  chair of mechanical-engineering technology since 1991.

А.S. Vereshchaka has published more than 300 scientific works including 4 monographs, 10 textbooks and manuals, and above 100 author's certificates and patents of the USSR, Russian Federation, Ukraine, the USA, Germany, France, Japan and Canada.  He is an honorary professor at the Kharkiv National Polytechnic University.

The main scientific activity areas of А.S. Vereshchaka are: 

1. Processes, technologies and equipment for vacuum-arc synthesizing functional coats of cutting tools.

2. Maintenance of  coated cutting tools (cutting mechanics, wear mechanisms, coating composition choice methodology, coating nanostructure formation techniques, coating architecture for severe interrupted cuts, high-speed processing, cutting of intractable materials, etc.).
